Solutions Engineering Manager ANZ
Help shape Appear’s growth in ANZ – lead technical pre-sales and support to deliver exceptional solutions to our customers
About the role
Appear is expanding in the ANZ region and we are looking for a skilled and service-minded Solutions Engineering Manager to join our Sydney-based team. In this role, you will lead our regional pre-sales efforts and support our commercial growth ambitions.
You will work closely with customers, partners, and our Sales team to ensure our technical solutions meet their needs while maintaining Appear’s high standards of quality and service.
You will be part of an experienced global solutions engineering organisation spanning Asia, Europe, and the Americas. With your technical expertise and customer-focused approach, you’ll help strengthen Appear’s presence in the ANZ market, delivering cutting-edge video processing and delivery solutions.
Main responsibilities
- Design technical solutions tailored to customers’ technical, commercial, and operational requirements
- Provide pre-sales technical support to Appear’s sales team, customers, and business partners
- Respond to bids, RFPs, and RFIs with detailed technical input
- Collaborate closely with global solutions engineers across regions
- Conduct remote and on-site customer meetings, Proof of Concepts (PoCs), and demonstrations
- Deliver troubleshooting, problem replication, and resolutions for Appear solutions in the ANZ region
- Support on-site and remote commissioning activities
Candidate profile
You are a technology-savvy, service-minded professional with a strong understanding of video contribution and distribution workflows. You enjoy working directly with customers, interpreting their needs, and architecting robust solutions to meet their objectives. You bring excellent communication skills and the drive to build strong, trust-based relationships across the region.
Qualifications & requirements
- Relevant higher education, minimum BSc
- 5–10 years’ experience in pre-sales, technical sales, or support engineering roles
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to understand complex video delivery challenges
- Deep knowledge of digital video contribution technologies (e.g. Uncompressed Video, Production workflows, 2110, NMOS, JPEG-XS, AVC, HEVC, PTP, NDI)
- Familiarity with video distribution technologies (e.g. SRT, RF Modulation, DVB, Mux, Scrambling, IP-over-TS, OTT)
- Solid understanding of networking and IP protocols (RTP, UDP)
- General IT knowledge (Linux OS, Databases, scripting languages)
- Excellent verbal and written English; additional Asian languages are a plus
- Self-starter with a structured, task-oriented approach
- Willingness to travel within the region to meet customers and teams
