About Appear and the Opportunity
Appear is scaling its enterprise infrastructure, and we are looking for an Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help shape how our core platforms are built, secured, and operated going forward. This is a high‑ownership role with broad technical scope, sitting at the intersection of server infrastructure, networking, identity, cloud, and developer enablement.
You will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which is accountable for Appear’s core technology platforms, including cloud infrastructure, end‑user services, identity and access management, core networking, shared developer platforms (GitLab, CI/CD), and security baselines and compliance. The team ensures these platforms are reliable, secure, and scalable, enabling the entire organization to move fast and safely.

What you will do
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will take ownership of critical parts of Appear’s infrastructure and play an active role in evolving how it is operated and scaled.
Take a leading role in stabilizing, documenting, and improving infrastructure, including monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery
Drive tangible, measurable improvements to operational reliability and resilience
Contribute to long‑term infrastructure strategy across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments
Champion automation and Infrastructure as Code, reducing manual operations and technical debt
Act as a trusted technical partner to engineering, security, and operations teams
Main responsibilities
Act as a senior individual contributor, providing technical leadership through experience, best practices, and hands‑on delivery
Operate and continuously improve Windows and Linux server environments, including virtualization (VMware / Hyper‑V) and storage
Own backup and disaster recovery solutions, including design, testing, and continuous improvement
Maintain and evolve monitoring, incident, and change management processes using ITSM tools
Design, configure, and operate networking components such as switches, firewalls, and VPNs
Proactively monitor network health, lead troubleshooting efforts, and maintain security baselines
Administer hybrid Active Directory and support identity and access management across the organization
Support cloud platforms and workplace services with a focus on reliability, security, and user experience
Ensure systems are secure, compliant, well documented, and operated to a high professional standard
What we are looking for
Windows and Linux server administration, virtualization, and storage
Strong networking skills: switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network security
Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code and automation
Incident management, troubleshooting, and cross‑team collaboration
Nice to have
Relevant certifications in networking, cloud, or ITSM
Experience from AV/UC, broadcast, or technology product environments
Relevant experience
5+ years of hands‑on infrastructure engineering in a production environment
Experience managing hybrid cloud / on‑prem environments at scale, including ownership of backup and disaster recovery
A proven track record of supporting engineering teams with infrastructure, integrations, and CI/CD pipelines
