Group Financial Controller

Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Group Financial Controller to help Appear, fulfill its financial reporting requirements and take ownership of the group’s consolidation process. This role is central to ensuring the accuracy, quality, and compliance of financial information across a fast-paced, innovation-driven organization. The Group Financial Controller will work closely with finance teams across Appear’s business units, providing guidance on technical accounting matters, particularly related to revenue recognition and capitalised development costs, and supporting activities such as financial due diligence and M&A.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual group financial reporting
- Manage the monthly consolidation process across all entities, including international subsidiaries
- Oversee and quality-assure financial reporting from Business Units (BUs)
- Monitor and manage group cash flow and working capital
- Manage the outsourced accounting service provider, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely deliverables
- Support technical accounting matters, including IFRS 15 and IAS 38 assessments, documentation, and auditor coordination
- Take ownership of the parent company’s accounts, including statutory reporting and tax return
- Support preparation of financial statements and statutory reporting for the Group and Norwegian entities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Contribute to development and maintenance of accounting and consolidation systems
- Strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and implement improvements
- Participate in ad hoc financial projects, including system upgrades, process improvements, and M&A integration
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Audit and Accounting or similar; preferably State Authorised Public Accountant (or equivalent)
- 5-10 years’ experience in auditing and/or a similar role, ideally within an international organisation
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Norwegian NGAAP, including experience with multi-entity consolidation
- Solid understanding of tax principles and statutory reporting
- Proficiency in accounting and consolidation tools
- Advanced Excel skills
- Fluent in business English
